GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 The IRIS Model P905 and 950S Infrared Temperature Measurement Pyrometer was designed specifically
for continuous-duty monitoring of the high temperatures in Sulfur Reactor furnaces.

The heart of the system is the 950S VIEWING HEAD PYROMETER. This is an advanced electro-optical
instrument which offers the best technology available for processor controlled instrumentation.

The second part of the system is the P905 Remote Display and Control Panel.

There are three principle advantages inherent in the two piece design philosophy, as described below:
 
1) Operating parameters can be changed from a remote location. Climbing up the side of a hot furnace to reach the 950S Viewing Head is not required.

2) Area classification at the vessel can be maintained during calibration and bake out.

3) Temperature readout and Diagnostic data is made conveniently available.

The P905 Processor can be easily installed in any accessible area within 50ft, (15m), of the 950S Viewing Head. The remote panel location gives operations personnel easy access to an array of diagnostic information. Operating parameters and set points can be checked and changed quickly and safely.

  Accuracy Calibrated to +/-1% over full temperature range.
  Resolution: .05 Degree internal. 1 Degree on P905 Remote Panel.
TEMPERATURE Repeatability: < 1% over full range.
MEASUREMENT   Range: -50° to 1250° C, -58° to 2282° F.
  Linearization: Thermocouple table loaded in non-volatile memory.

Thermocouple

 Accuracy: Calibrated to +/-1% over full temperature range using traceable K T/C.
  Resolution: .02 Degree internal. 1 Degree on P905 Remote Panel.
  Repeatability: < 1% over full range.
 
OPTICAL Target Range: 14 in., (355.6 mm) to infinity.
Field of View: .382 degrees = .080 in. per ft. or 6.667 mm per m.
Target Size: TARGET (in.) = (separation + 4) / 150.

Analog

   Method: Continuously proportional, Industry Standard current loop generator with internal loop power supply, lower and upper range output limiters, and loop failure alarm.
  Range: 0 - 20 mA, or 4 - 20 mA, operator selectable.
OUTPUTS Accuracy: +/- .15 %.
  Resolution: 16 BIT, (.0015 %.).
  Termination: 600 Ohms maximum loop resistance.

Relay

   Self-Check Relay: 1 Form C contact, 2 Amp, 30 VDC.
  Hi-Temp Alarm Relay 2 Form C contacts, 2 Amp, 30 VDC.
 
OPERATING TEMPERATURE 950S Viewing Head -40° to 55° C, -40° to 130° F No internal heater.
-55° to 55° C, -67° to 130° F Internal Heater, Option 1.
Upper limit increased to 85° C, 185° F with water jacket.
P905 Signal Processor -40° to 55° C, -40° to 130° F No heating or cooling required.
